Zakimi Castle

Zakimi Castle was quite a beautiful place.  There were amazing views, amazing rocks, amazing trees, and amazing history.  Did I say it was amazing?  

Ayla is showing us all the castles she has already seen.  There had been to quite a few.  She would point and say, "Here, here, here."  

Ryukyu Mra Village

Mike and Emily took us to Ryukyu Mura Village.  It is designed to give people an idea of the old ways of life.  It was beautiful!

Ayla enjoyed feeding the fish in the koi pond.  There were some very hungry fish!

This device was driven by a water buffalo.  It was used to get the juice out of the sugar cane.

Emily, Mike, and I went for a walk and stopped at a local grocery store.  Is this what's for dinner?

Harbor Diner and Zampa Lighthouse

We arrived in Okinawa on March 4.  Emily, Mike, and Ayla were there to greet us.  We had lunch at Harbor Diner.  As we were driving (on the left side of the road) Emily told me to look for a house in a tree.  I asked if she meant a tree on top of a house.  No - it was a house in a tree.  It is pretty hard to miss.

Taipei, Taiwan

We had a chance to spend the night in Taipei.  Beside taking a nice walk in a beautiful park, we had dinner at a Mongolian Barbecue, walked through the street market, strolled through the ancient Lungshan temple where ancient buddist rituals are still practiced, and went to Taipei 101 - the second tallest building in the world.

We had to try out the exercise equipment beside the sidewalk on our walk.

We were quite impressed with the root system of the vegetation in Taipei.
